Blackley comes into the arena with Shock To The System by Billy Idol blaring out of the sound system. Mac Paining has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Derek Blackley's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mac Paining!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blackley throws a body kick that misses.
Blackley scores with a nice right hand.
Blackley throws a leg kick which misses Paining's front leg but catches the back leg as Paining tries to avoid it.
Paining keeps the fight on the outside.

Blackley shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Blackley showed some decent athleticism there.

Blackley looking for a submission but Paining manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A looping hook to the body misses from Blackley. Paining does a little dance to reset his feet.

Blackley gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Paining to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Paining wants to control from the top but Blackley keeps moving.

Paining drops back, looking for a kneebar! Blackley looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Blackley looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Blackley!
Blackley wants to lay and pray for a moment but Paining keeps working.
Paining is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Paining tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Blackley tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Blackley has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Blackley fails to land with a series of punches.
Blackley misses with a jab, cross combination.
Blackley misses with a few strikes there.
Blackley lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Blackley wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Paining is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Blackley defends it well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Blackley throws a left and a right that both miss

and Paining counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Blackley's guard now.
Blackley is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Blackley has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Paining can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Paining drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Blackley manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Paining has Blackley in his guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Paining might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Blackley kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
