The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Patterson moves into range and clinches up with Starship.
Patterson pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Starship gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Patterson.
Patterson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Starship fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Patterson throws and low kick but Starship moves out of range easily.

Starship feints and then cracks Patterson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Patterson down.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Patterson is looking to control Starship but Starship is wriggling around and keeping busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Patterson just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Patterson is trying to stick to Starship's back but Starship is turning into Patterson. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Patterson's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Starship.
