The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alvarenga closes the distance and clinches.
Alvarenga tries to pull guard but McDaniel holds him up against the cage and eventually Alvarenga drops back down to his feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Chris McDaniel will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Alvarenga jumps guard but McDaniel stands there with Alvarenga around his waist. Alvarenga gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

McDaniel has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Alvarenga avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Alvarenga tries to pass the half guard into mount. McDaniel knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

McDaniel has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Alvarenga. Oh but McDaniel has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Alvarenga goes limp - he's gone! McDaniel jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
