The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Assassin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Aranico napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Assassin sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Aranico is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Aranico takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Aranico is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Assassin is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aranico has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Assassin escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Assassin!
The ground and pound from Assassin seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Assassin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Aranico, who protects the arm well.
Assassin in side control, throwing shots but Aranico defends.
Aranico takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Assassin is trying to get an arm triangle but Aranico is defending well.

Assassin swings around for an armbar but Aranico sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Assassin's guard.
Aranico wants to control from the top but Assassin keeps moving.

Aranico stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Hawaiian Assassin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Assassin shoots in and drives through. Aranico sprawls well.
Aranico scores with a kick to the body.
Assassin looks gassed!
Assassin walks into a jab.

It looks like Hawaiian Assassin has been cut.
No joy there for Aranico, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Aranico throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Assassin.
Aranico throws a leg kick but Assassin checks it.
Aranico misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Aranico lands with a big left! Assassin is wobbled badly! Aranico comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Assassin to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
