PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Waltari Suokuokka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chung Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Suokuokka comes to the cage accompanied by Nile - Yezd Desert Ghul Ritual in the Abandoned Towers of Silence. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Waltari Suokuokka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chung Kim!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim fails to land the takedown.
Kim swats away the attempt to clinch by Suokuokka.
Kim shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Suokuokka but Suokuokka pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Suokuokka dives in and grabs Kim's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kim pushes down on Suokuokka's head and hops out.

Waltari Suokuokka has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chung Kim.
Suokuokka is looking to stand up but Kim won't let him.

Kim is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Suokuokka defends well.

Kim looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Suokuokka has picked Kim up and slammed him! Kim can't keep hold of the triangle and Suokuokka manages to pass to side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Suokuokka decides to stand back up. Suokuokka steps back and let's Kim get back to his feet.
Suokuokka lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Kim shoots and misses

and Suokuokka counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Kim tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Suokuokka just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kim has Suokuokka pressed against the cage, preventing Suokuokka from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Kim tries to score a body lock takedown but Suokuokka shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Kim looks gassed!
Suokuokka wants to get back to striking at distance but Kim won't allow it.

Suokuokka ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Suokuokka no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Suokuokka has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Kim off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

and Suokuokka counters with a single leg into guard. Kim didn't expect that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kim working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Suokuokka doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Suokuokka manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kim is looking for a triangle here but Suokuokka uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Suokuokka stands up and beckons Kim to his feet.
Suokuokka misses with a double jab.
Kim moves in looking to clinch but Suokuokka pushes him off.
Suokuokka swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Kim drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Suokuokka wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Kim wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Suokuokka, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Suokuokka is trying to escape the position but Kim is controlling the position.

Suokuokka is trying to control Kim's posture but Kim avoids it.

Kim is looking to take a break and control but Suokuokka is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Suokuokka shoots for a double leg takedown but Kim sprawls well. He's pushed Suokuokka's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Kim feints and as Suokuokka raises his hands in defense, Kim changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Kim wants to control but Suokuokka is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Suokuokka counters with a right hand to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chung Kim showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Kim jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Suokuokka walks away with a smile on his face. Kim gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Suokuokka counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Kim escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Suokuokka gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kim looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Suokuokka has picked Kim up and slammed him! Kim can't keep hold of the triangle and Suokuokka manages to pass to side control!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Suokuokka is looking to take a break and control but Kim is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kim is trying to improve his position.
Kim gets back to half guard.

Kim is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Suokuokka pulls his head out easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kim is pressing down on Suokuokka's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Kim throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Suokuokka is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Suokuokka wants to stand but Kim is controlling his posture from full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Kim closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kim wants to pass to mount but Suokuokka is defending the position.
Suokuokka pushes Kim off looking to stand but Kim dives back in and keeps control.

Kim wants to work for an arm triangle but Suokuokka is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Kim maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Suokuokka could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Kim has cracked it and Suokuokka is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Kim!
