PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Abdual Jemall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexi Laiho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Laiho comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Lookin' Out My Backdoor kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Alexi Laiho enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jemall fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jemall fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Laiho scores with a crisp jab that stopped Jemall in his tracks.
Jemall shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Laiho but Laiho pushes him off and we're back to square one.

No joy there for Jemall, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Laiho thuds his right hand into Jemall's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Jemall postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Jemall is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Laiho is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Laiho throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Jemall takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Jemall shoots for a double leg takedown but Laiho sprawls well. He's pushed Jemall's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Alexi Laiho is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Laiho fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Jemall on the side of the head.
Laiho throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jemall is looking to clinch but Laiho is avoiding it.
Jemall doesn't manage to clinch there - Laiho circles away.

Jemall closes the distance and clinches up with Laiho, looking for a takedown. Jemall pushes Laiho against the cage but Laiho circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Laiho scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

It looks like Abdual Jemall has been cut.

Jemall closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Laiho did well to prevent Jemall getting side control.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Laiho can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jemall thows a huge punch but Laiho dodges it nicely.

Jemall is working for a kimura but Laiho is defending it quite comfortably.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jemall seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Laiho does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jemall shoots in and drives through. Laiho sprawls well.
Jemall shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Laiho lunges at Jemall with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Jemall's hand.

Laiho drops Jemall with a beautiful combination! Jemall stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Laiho is looking for the KO!

Laiho cracks Jemall with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Jemall looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Laiho finish him?
Oh Jemall is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Laiho circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jemall moves in looking to clinch but Laiho pushes him off.
Laiho keeps the fight on the outside.
Jemall seems to have got his legs back now.

Jemall shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Jemall stops Laiho from getting back to his feet.
Jemall not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Laiho is staying active underneath Jemall, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Jemall is just content to waste time from the top position. Laiho takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Laiho avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Laiho might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Laiho throws a hook but Jemall avoids it easily.
Laiho slips a jab from Jemall.
Jemall takes a swing at Laiho's ribcage but misses.

Alexi Laiho seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Jemall changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Laiho tries to avoid it but Jemall manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Laiho to the ground. Laiho escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Jemall shoots in looking for a takedown. Laiho tries to sprawl out of it but Jemall keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Laiho manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Jemall has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Jemall there as he acknowledges the shot.
Laiho looks to land a left hand but Jemall moved out of range nicely.

and Laiho counters with a crisp one two that drops Jemall! Laiho thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Jemall to his feet! Jemall is in big trouble!
Laiho connects with a stiff jab that staggers Jemall - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!
