Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Shaun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mahut Uno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shaun's entrance music is The Soviettes - "#1 Is Number Two". A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Shaun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mahut Uno!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shaun gets a takedown into half guard.
Uno scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Shaun manages to mount him!
Uno is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Uno tries to lock up and control but Shaun gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Uno working to try and regain half guard.
Uno tries to hold on but Shaun pushes him away.
Shaun pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Shaun is stalling here but it's allowed Uno to get half guard.

Uno is doing well to control the position and prevent Shaun from advancing to side control.

Shaun wants to work for an arm triangle but Uno is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Uno actively working from the bottom here.
Uno looks like he's trying to stand up.

Shaun is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Uno is just riding it out for now. Shaun eventually gives up the hold.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Uno tries to clinch but Shaun moves out of range.

Uno connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Shaun momentarily.
Shaun looks for a takedown but Uno sprawls well.
Mahut Uno seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Shaun tries to keep at a distance but Uno has taken the fight into the clinch.
Uno wants to get back to striking at distance but Shaun won't allow it.

Uno manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Uno is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Shaun is controlling him.
Uno keeping moving, preventing Shaun from controlling successfully.

Uno uses the cage to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nice sprawl there from Uno as Shaun shoots in.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mahut Uno will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Uno throws a head kick that misses.

Shaun tries to pull guard but Uno holds him up against the cage and eventually Shaun drops back down to his feet.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Uno goes for a takedown in the clinch but Shaun prevents it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Uno softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Shaun jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Uno walks away with a smile on his face. Shaun gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Shaun. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Uno gets the takedown into side control.

Uno is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Shaun knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Uno trying to control the position but Shaun is working away.
Uno tries to stand but Shaun is controlling his head.
Shaun manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Shaun avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Uno.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shaun keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shaun regains half guard.
Uno is looking to advance position but Shaun won't allow it.
Shaun is looking to control Uno's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Shaun avoid being mounted?

Uno is trying to work for a kimura but Shaun is defending well.
Uno stalling.

Shaun tries to roll over but Uno keeps him under control.
Uno trying to mount his opponent but Shaun defends it.

Shaun looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Uno is thwarting Shaun's attempts to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Uno fails in his attempt to clinch.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Shaun gets caught flat footed, as Uno shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Shaun is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Uno defends well.

Uno drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Shaun manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Uno has Shaun in his guard.
Shaun trying to control but Uno is working from the bottom.

Shaun is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Uno is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Uno has escaped and now he's on top!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mahut Uno showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Uno drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Uno trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Uno is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Uno looking to sit in guard and control but Shaun gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Uno seems keen to control Shaun's posture.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shaun wants to pass the guard but Uno is keeping the position.
Uno is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Uno might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Shaun kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Uno.

Uno decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Shaun tries to clinch but Uno moves away
and Uno counters with a head kick.

Uno drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mahut Uno is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Shaun keeping moving, preventing Uno from controlling successfully.
Uno takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Uno slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Shaun is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Uno is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Uno takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Uno takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
Uno wants to control but Shaun is keeping busy.
Uno is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Shaun just trying to survive but Uno is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Mahut Uno has got the better of the ground game so far.
Uno controlling from the back.
Uno trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Uno has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Shaun's body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Shaun trying to control but not successfully.
Uno slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Despite being in the dominant position, Mahut Uno just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Shaun closes the distance and pushes Uno back into the cage.
Mark Shaun has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Shaun jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Uno walks away with a smile on his face. Shaun gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Uno bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Shaun is not content to let Uno control the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mahut Uno comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Uno has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
