PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Super Trooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Yates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yates has chosen I Stand Alone - Godsmack as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Super Trooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Yates!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yates gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Trooper stopping the sweep attempt from Yates.
Yates keeping moving, preventing Trooper from controlling successfully.
Trooper will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Trooper slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Trooper won't allow Yates to get back to his feet.
Trooper advances position into side control!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Trooper tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Yates wants to get back to his feet.
Yates is looking to regain half guard here but Trooper keeps moving and retains side control.
Yates defending against the ground and pound.
Yates seems a little lost for a moment, as Trooper dominates the positioning.
Yates really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Trooper. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
You can see the frustration on Yates's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Trooper working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.


It looks like Marcus Yates has been cut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yates managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Trooper.
Yates is trying to improve his position.
Trooper just content to control the position.
Trooper trying to control the position but Yates is working away.
Yates tries to buck Trooper off but Trooper is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Trooper takes a little break here. Yates wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Trooper has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Trooper gets to mount! Yates was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Trooper has control of Yates's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Yates regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Yates is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Trooper looking to secure an arm triangle but Yates defends it well.
Yates is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Yates is squirming around, avoiding Trooper's attempts to control the action.
Trooper throwing strikes here but Yates is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Trooper lands a big shot there that rocks Yates but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Trooper controlling his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Super Trooper dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Marcus Yates's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Trooper decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Yates's guard.

Yates is trying to stand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yates is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Trooper looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Yates wants to improve his position but Trooper is controlling well.
Trooper controlling the action here.
Yates is not content to let Trooper control the position.
Trooper scoring with strikes to the body and head.


That has opened up Marcus Yates's cut even more.
Yates is not content to let Trooper control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Super Trooper just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Yates throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Trooper counters with a single leg into guard. Yates didn't expect that.

Yates should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Trooper stands and throws Yates's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Trooper looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Yates is working to avoid the ground and pound but Trooper connects with a decent elbow.


The cut above Marcus Yates's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Trooper working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Trooper is working to tighten is grip on Yates's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Yates has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Trooper is really squeezing tight and eventually Yates passes out! Trooper breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Super Trooper!
