Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Masahiro Yamamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Higgins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Masahiro Yamamoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Higgins!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Higgins drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Yamamoto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Higgins can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Higgins wants to pass the guard but Yamamoto is keeping the position.
Yamamoto is breathing heavily.
Yamamoto looking for a sweep. Not yet Yamamoto, not yet.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Higgins's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Higgins passes Yamamoto's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Higgins working Yamamoto over with strikes.
Higgins really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Yamamoto. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Higgins working over Yamamoto with some ground and pound. Yamamoto looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Higgins tries to pass to full mount but Yamamoto defends it.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Higgins connects with a nice short shot to Yamamoto's temple.
Higgins looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Yamamoto with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Higgins moves into full mount! Yamamoto won't be happy about that!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yamamoto takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Higgins's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Higgins!
