PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Lacey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary The Hitman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Lacey might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Motley Crue - Wild Side. The Hitman has chosen Jay Z - Run This Town as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!

The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jonathan Paton and John Roberts.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Hitman feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Lacey's calf.

Lacey has taken the fight to the clinch.

Lacey has The Hitman pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Lacey pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending The Hitman tumbling to the mat - Lacey dives into The Hitman's guard.

Lacey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The Hitman looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Lacey trying to control the position from guard on top but The Hitman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The Hitman wants to stand but Lacey is controlling the position.
Laceyis looking to pass into half guard but The Hitman pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now The Hitman is in guard.

Lacey has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but The Hitman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gary The Hitman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lacey fails with the takedown.
The Hitman feints and then cracks Lacey's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Lacey down.

Lacey fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. The Hitman sprawls well initially but Lacey persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Lacey not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The Hitman looks like he's trying to stand up.
The Hitman tries to get to full guard but Lacey has control of the leg.

Lacey seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but The Hitman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The Hitman makes his way to full guard. A much better position for The Hitman.

Lacey thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
The Hitman misses with a low kick as Lacey jumps back.
The Hitman tries a head kick but it misses.
Gary The Hitman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The Hitman is looking to clinch.
Lacey shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts The Hitman as he jumps to the side.

so Lacey counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lacey trying to control the position from guard on top but The Hitman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The Hitman looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The Hitman is working an open guard so Lacey takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Lacey closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Lacey seems to be looking for submissions.
The Hitman is trying to control but can't.
Lacey wants to control but The Hitman is keeping him busy.
The Hitman is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Lacey wants to work for an arm triangle but The Hitman is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Lacey stops The Hitman from getting back to his feet.
The Hitman has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lacey is working away from the top position though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Lacey keeps the fight on the outside.
The Hitman throws a leg kick that is checked

and Lacey counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Lacey.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The Hitman wants to sweep here but Lacey controlling him for the moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lacey wants to control from the top but The Hitman keeps moving.

The Hitman looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Lacey is defending well. The Hitman quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Lacey has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! The Hitman celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
