Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tariq Ziyad!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Partridge!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ziyad gets the takedown into side control.

Partridge throws Ziyad to one side and escapes!

Ziyad shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Partridge as he avoids it easily.
Partridge stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Partridge wants it to stay on the feet.
Ziyad is trying hard to land a takedown here. Partridge sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Ziyad is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Partridge to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Partridge shrugs it off.
Ziyad wants to control the pace but Partridge is squirming around nicely.

Ziyad jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Partridge is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Partridge and Ziyad has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Ziyad tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ziyad has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Ziyad postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Ziyad goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Partridge rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Ziyad's guard! Nice work there by Partridge!
Ziyad is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That was a close round but I would say that Tariq Ziyad will probably get the nod.

Ziyad is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Partridge is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Partridge has escaped and now he's on top!

Ziyad escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Partridge gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ziyad gets back to half guard.

Ziyad looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Partridge puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Partridge wants to get back to his feet.

Partridge decides to return to a standing position.
Partridge misses with a series of wild punches.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Horrible takedown by Ziyad or perhaps it was just good defense by Partridge which made him look bad.

Ziyad closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ziyad lands in his opponent's guard.

Ziyad drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Partridge manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ziyad has Partridge in his guard.
Ziyad manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Partridge manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Partridge throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ziyad.
Ziyad looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Partridge swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Partridge chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Ziyad can pounce on him.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ziyad, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
