PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Veni Sada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonakis Nikolos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Veni Sada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Antonakis Nikolos!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Saam Ante and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nikolos swats away the attempt to clinch by Sada.

Sada shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nikolos's guard.

Sada passes Nikolos's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Sada thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nikolos's head.
Sada throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Nikolos pushes Sada off looking to stand but Sada dives back in and keeps control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sada wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nikolos keeps working.
Sada throwing strikes but missing, from side control.

Sada tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sada has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Sada is chipping away with strikes.
Nikolos pushes Sada away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Sada gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Sada wants to take a breather but Nikolos manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Sada.
Sada has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nikolos trying to keep a closed guard but Sada is proving a slippery customer.
Sada looking to sit in guard and control but Nikolos gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Sada manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Sada is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Nikolos can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sada won't let Nikolos get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Sada jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Nikolos manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Sada works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Sada lands a decent elbow from side control.
Nikolos looks gassed!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Veni Sada dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Nikolos avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Sada feints and as Nikolos raises his hands in defense, Sada changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Nikolos is looking to stand up but Sada isn't so interested in that idea.

Nikolos is breathing heavily.

Sada stands up over Nikolos, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Sada missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Sada shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Nikolos napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Sada stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Sada closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Sada advances to mount.

Sada is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Nikolos is surviving well by controlling Sada's body position as best he can.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sada jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Nikolos is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Nikolos and Sada has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Nikolos is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Sada is controlling him well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nikolos sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Sada trying to control the action but Nikolos is working from the bottom.
Veni Sada overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Sada working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Sada in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Nikolos tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Sada!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Veni Sada!
