PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joelson Nunes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julian Reis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Julian Reis was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joelson Nunes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julian Reis!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nunes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Reis looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Reis is looking to improve his position but Nunes isn't that keen on the idea.

Reis is bucking up trying to escape but Nunes cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Nunes fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Nunes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Reis on the ground.
Nunes has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Joelson Nunes just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Nunes rushes Reis and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Nunes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nunes scores with a shot to the body.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Reis looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Nunes passes into half guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Nunes is trying hard to land a takedown here. Reis sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Nunes cracks Reis with a big right hand but Reis just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Nunes scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Nunes shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nunes showed some decent athleticism there.
Nunes is taking a breather. Reis says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Nunes is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Nunes slows the pace down in half guard.

Nunes is trying to control the action in half guard but Reis is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Nunes trying to mount his opponent but Reis defends it.
Reis gets back to full guard.
Nunes is looking to work some ground and pound but Reis has wrist control.

Reis has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Nunes doesn't defend quickly enough and Reis has managed to lock this one up! Can Nunes escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Reis on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Julian Reis!
