Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yoshiro Samuray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshimora Chiba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yoshiro Samuray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yoshimora Chiba!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Eliza Hachem and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Samuray misses with a takedown attempt - Chiba sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Chiba keeps the fight on the outside.

Samuray feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Chiba will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Samuray moves into the clinch.

Samuray has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Chiba uses from the top position.
Chiba must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Chiba wants to stand but Samuray is controlling his posture from full guard.

Samuray has his foot on Chiba's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chiba works his way back into a safe position though.

Samuray fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Chiba avoids it really well and circles away.
Chiba lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Chiba lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

and Samuray decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Chiba's guard.
Samuray wants to control from the top but Chiba keeps moving.
Samuray wants to pass the guard but Chiba is keeping the position.
Samuray throws a strike but Chiba rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Chiba swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Chiba throws a left and a right that both miss
and Samuray counters with a body kick that stops Chiba in his tracks momentarily.
Chiba looks to land a combination. Samuray sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Samuray closes the distance and clinches up with Chiba, looking for a takedown. Samuray pushes Chiba against the cage but Chiba circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Samuray counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Samuray.

Samuray is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Chiba has escaped the position, nice work there.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Samuray changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Chiba tries to avoid it but Samuray manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Chiba to the ground. Chiba escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yoshiro Samuray. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chiba closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Chiba moves in looking to clinch but Samuray pushes him off.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Chiba scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
No luck for Samuray with that takedown attempt.

Chiba tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Nice takedown defense from Chiba. No joy for Samuray on that attempt.
Chiba rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Samuray moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Samuray tries to score a power double leg takedown but Chiba sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Samuray somewhat.

Samuray has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Chiba uses from the top position.

Samuray had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Chiba defends it easily.

Samuray has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Chiba is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Samuray is pressing down on Chiba's thigh, looking to free his foot. Chiba is holding on for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Samuray is looking to take a break and control but Chiba is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Yoshiro Samuray.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Samuray, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
