PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bud Weiser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ilkka Wasama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weiser's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, straightjacket. Wasama comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Prodigy - Take Me to the Hospital kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Weiser is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Bud Weiser has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bud Weiser!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ilkka Wasama!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wasama is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Weiser's half guard.
Weiser is breathing heavily.
Wasama takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Wasama looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Wasama looks up at the clock and then as Weiser takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Wasama smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Wasama connects with a nice short shot to Weiser's temple.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Wasama decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wasama stands up over Weiser, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Weiser thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ilkka Wasama dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wasama can do anything to dispel that myth.

Ilkka Wasama showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Ilkka Wasama comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Wasama has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
