Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bob Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Weidan Gong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bob Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Weidan Gong!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Patrick Alders and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gong fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nelson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Gong fails in his attempt to clinch.
Nelson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Nelson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Gong misses with an elbow strike.
Gong is looking to control Nelson's arms but Nelson gets an underhook and turns him. Now Gong has his back to the cage.
Gong throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Nelson blocks it with crossed arms.
Nelson avoids the elbow strike from Gong, against the cage.
Nelson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Gong is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Nelson works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Gong has Nelson pulled in close to control his posture.
Nelson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Nelson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Nelson is looking to stand up but Gong won't let him.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gong trying to keep a closed guard but Nelson is proving a slippery customer.
Nelson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Gong has Nelson pulled in close to control his posture.

Gong working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nelson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nelson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Nelson's corner is telling him to maintain position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Nelson throws a low kick but it's checked well by Gong.
Gong tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nelson swivels and escapes.

and Nelson counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Nelson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Nelson manages to end up in side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Nelson tries to advance to mount but can't.
Nelson slows the pace down.

Gong wants to get back to his feet but Nelson is dominant here and he's now got Gong's back!

Nelson is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Gong is in bad spot here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
What can Gong do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Gong trying to control but not successfully.
Gong is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Gong is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Gong is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gong just trying to survive but Nelson is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Nelson has got his arm under Gong's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Gong has spun round into Nelson's guard beautifully! Well done that man!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Gong wants to clinch

and Nelson counters by moving into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Nelson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gong to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Nelson has a closed guard, preventing Gong from standing up.
Nelson wants to sweep but no luck.

Gong avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Gong wants to stand but Nelson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Nelson looking for subs off his back but Gong has passed one foot through into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Gong moves into full mount! Nelson won't be happy about that!

Gong can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Nelson is looking to escape.

Gong wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are battling for position here. Nelson manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Weidan Gong has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Nelson holds on and takes a little breather.
Gong is looking to stand up but Nelson won't let him.

Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nelson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
With the fighters up against the cage, Gong throws an elbow but misses.

Nelson pulls guard.
Gong throwing strikes from guard but Nelson blocks nicely.

Nelson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gong is aware though and is defending well.

Gong thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Nelson wants to stand and escape but Gong is having none of it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bob Nelson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Gong throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Nelson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Weidan Gong.
Well Nelson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
