PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kileki Kawike (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pooby Phants (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kawike comes to the cage accompanied by Anthrax w/ Public Enemy - Bring the Noise. Phants has chosen Voodoo Chile as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

The judges for this bout are James Glass, Sam Margolis and Chris Edwards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phants lands a nice shot to the body.

Kawike takes the fight into the clinch.

Phants escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Phants tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Kawike makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Kawike drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Phants is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Kawike throws a strike aimed at the side of Phants's head but Phants avoids it well.

Kawike is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Phants has escaped the position, nice work there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kawike tries to advance to mount but can't.

Phants is trying to get back to his feet.

Kawike tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kawike has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kawike wants to control but Phants is keeping him busy.

Kawike tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kawike working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Phants can't do much from the bottom here.
Phants prevents Kawike from moving into mount.

Kawike wants to advance to full mount but Phants doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Phants is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kawike trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Kawike in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Phants seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Kawike wants to control from the top but Phants keeps moving.
Kawike throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Phants works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Phants rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kawike moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Phants throws a body kick that misses.
Kawike avoids a punch combination nicely.
Phants misses with the combination.
A looping hook to the body misses from Phants. Kawike does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kawike keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Phants swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kawike moves out of range as Phants strikes.
Phants digs a good body shot into Kawike's ribs.
Kawike scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Phants throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kawike.

Kawike feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Phants looks gassed!

Kawike is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Phants is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Phants has escaped and now he's on top!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Pooby Phants will probably get the nod.
That's time! Kawike's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

A shot to the body from Phants misses

and Kawike counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Kawike wants to free his trapped foot but Phants is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Phants trying to hold on to Kawike's head to control him but Kawike postures up.
Kawike looks to land a strike but Phants avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Kawike drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Phants manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kawike has Phants in his guard.

Phants avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Phants gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kawike lands a nice shot to the body.
Kawike avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kawike checks the leg kick nicely there.
Phants scores with a leg kick.
A swing and a miss from Phants.
Phants is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Kawike rather than just go for the knockout.

Phants parries the strikes from Kawike easily there. Kawike is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Phants to escape.
Phants is trying to get back to his feet.

Kawike is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Phants is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kawike swings around for an armbar but Phants sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Kawike's guard.
Kawike looking for a sweep. Not yet Kawike, not yet.

Kawike has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Phants can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Phants stands and steps away. Kawike gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Phants throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Kawike is looking to take a break and control but Phants is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
