PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mark Leary (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Horatio Jacobs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leary's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Dangermouse. Jacobs has chosen Green River - CCR as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jacobs connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Leary avoids a kick to the body.
Jacobs throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Leary sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Leary gets the takedown into side control.
Leary misses with the ground and pound.
A lull in the action here as Leary stalls from top position.
Leary throws a strike aimed at the side of Jacobs's head but Jacobs avoids it well.
Leary in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Leary throwing strikes but Jacobs manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Leary gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Leary wants to get back to full guard but Jacobs has passed into side control.

Jacobs stands up from mount. Strange move.
Horatio Jacobs is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jacobs throws a low kick, looking for Leary's leg but Leary calmly moves out of range.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Come on Jacobs - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Leary fails to pull guard.

The crowd cheers as Jacobs lands an impressive looking overhand right. Leary doesn't seem phased though.

Leary shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jacobs manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Leary wants to control from the top but Jacobs keeps moving.

Jacobs wants to stand up but Leary is controlling him.
Leary slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Leary in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Leary won't allow Jacobs to get back to his feet.

Leary has gone for a leg lock! Jacobs slips out almost immediately though and dives into Leary's guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Leary throws his legs up looking for a submission but Jacobs uses it to pass to side control.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Horatio Jacobs will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Good leg kick by Jacobs there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Horatio Jacobs showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Leary is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jacobs is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jacobs has escaped and now he's on top!

Horatio Jacobs is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
