Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Geraldo Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rusty Griswold (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griswold has chosen Hooking Up The Lights as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Rusty Griswold enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Geraldo Rivera!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rusty Griswold!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Alexandre Firmino and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Griswold.
Griswold tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rivera sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Griswold somewhat.
Rivera connects with a single shot there.

Griswold scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rivera wants to control but Griswold postures up.
Rivera gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Rivera is refusing to be controlled, as Griswold sits in half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Griswold lands a nice short elbow.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Griswold is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Griswold cracks Rivera with a solid left hand.
Griswold working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Griswold is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Rivera is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Griswold thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Rivera swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Griswold shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Geraldo Rivera's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Griswold shoots for a double leg takedown but Rivera sprawls well. He's pushed Griswold's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rivera lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Griswold circles away quickly and effectively.
Rivera is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Griswold.
Rivera throws out a loose jab but Griswold uses good head movement to avoid it.
Rivera swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Rivera connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Rivera tries to close the distance and clinch up but Griswold swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rivera thows a body shot but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Griswold moves out of range of the strikes.
Geraldo Rivera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Griswold fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Griswold fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rivera looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Griswold counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Griswold is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Griswold wants to control from the top but Rivera keeps moving.
Griswold makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Rusty Griswold has got the better of the ground game so far.
Rivera not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Griswold accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Rivera is wriggling around but Griswold manages to pass to half guard.
Griswold lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Griswold has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Griswold is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Rivera wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Griswold.
Poor strikes thrown by Griswold there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Griswold can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rivera is looking to escape.
Rivera wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Rivera wants to hold on but Griswold pushes him away.
Griswold is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Griswold postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Rivera looks a forlorn figure.
Griswold lands with some strikes.


Rivera is rocked!
Griswold unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Rivera wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Griswold celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
