The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddell defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Petzel.
Petzel will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Petzel fails with a takedown attempt.
Liddell tries a head kick but it misses.
Liddell doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Petzel counters with a single leg into guard. Liddell didn't expect that.
Petzel throws a big right hand that misses.
Petzel slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Petzel thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Liddell is pushing Petzel's head away, looking to escape. Petzel manages to hold on to the position though.

Petzel wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Liddell, who protects the arm well.
Petzel lands a decent elbow from side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Liddell has one of Petzel's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
Liddell struggling a bit here.

Petzel is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Liddell is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Liddell is trying to get back to half guard.

Petzel is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Liddell is trying to escape and Petzel transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Liddell is forced to tap! Nice work there by Petzel! Very nice indeed!
