Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leslie Vernon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Goethe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Goethe has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Leslie Vernon is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vernon stuffs the takedown.
Goethe looks gassed!
Goethe fails with the takedown.
The crowd cheers as Vernon lands an impressive looking overhand right. Goethe doesn't seem phased though.
Goethe goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Vernon drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Vernon trying to control but Goethe is working from the bottom.
Vernon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Goethe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Goethe controls Vernon momentarily but Vernon frees himself.
Vernon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Goethe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Vernon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Vernon wants to control from the top but Goethe keeps moving.
Vernon stands and throws Goethe's legs to the side, diving into side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vernon is looking to take a break and control but Goethe is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Vernon tries to score a power double leg takedown but Goethe sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Vernon somewhat.

Vernon has hold of Goethe's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Goethe manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vernon tries to control but Goethe wriggling away.
Goethe is bucking up trying to escape but Vernon cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Vernon wants to control the action but instead Goethe gets a body lock and reverses into Vernon's guard! Nice work!

Goethe must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Vernon wants to stand and escape but Goethe is having none of it.
Vernon lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Goethe!

Vernon lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Vernon lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Vernon takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Goethe tries to lock up and control but Vernon gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Goethe is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vernon feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
