PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Dubois (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pablo Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris Dubois !
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos misses with a few strikes there.
Santos moves out of range as Dubois strikes.
Dubois slips under a jab.
Dubois lands a slapping body shot.
Santos moves out of range as Dubois throws a body kick.
Santos fails with a takedown attempt.
Santos shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dubois pinned against the cage. Dubois gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Santos closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Santos is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Dubois has escaped the position, nice work there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Dubois is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Santos asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Dubois dodges the ground and pound from Santos.
Dubois wants to get back to his feet but Santos drags him back down.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dubois can do anything to dispel that myth.

Santos advances nicely into full mount.

Santos is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Dubois can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Santos wants to control the pace but Dubois is squirming around nicely.

Santos looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Dubois avoids a series of strikes thrown by Santos.

Santos swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Dubois is now in Santos's guard. A big mistake from Santos there, giving up the dominant position!

Santos looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Santos working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dubois doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dubois manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Santos is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Dubois turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santos looks to land a left hand but Dubois moved out of range nicely.
Dubois takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Santos misses with a takedown attempt - Dubois sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Dubois displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Santos.
Dubois throws an overhand right that lands on Santos's shoulder, as Santos tries to avoid the shot.
Santos misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Dubois lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Santos shoots in and bounces Dubois off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Dubois wants to stand and escape but Santos is having none of it.

Dubois tries to kick Santos off but Santos keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Santos seems to be working for a kimura but Dubois defends the submission attempt.

Santos is looking to stall here but Dubois recovers full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Dubois wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Santos manages to pass to side control.
Santos wants to pass the guard but Dubois is defending well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Santos is looking to take a break and control but Dubois is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pablo Santos dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Dubois is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Santos.
Santos lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Dubois throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Santos fails with a takedown attempt.
Santos dives in and grabs Dubois 's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dubois pushes down on Santos's head and hops out.

Dubois throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Dubois lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Santos misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pablo Santos. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Santos stuns Dubois with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Santos misses with a jab, cross combination.
Santos scores with a nice right hand.

Dubois throws a sloppy head kick and Santos moves out of range easily.
Dubois tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Santos is defended easily by Dubois .

Santos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dubois tries to avoid it but Santos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dubois to the ground. Dubois escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Santos fails with a takedown attempt.
Dubois misses with the combination.
Santos moves forwards but Dubois connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Santos looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Dubois bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Santos's head backwards.

Dubois swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Santos throws a series of punches but Dubois moves out of range.
Horrible takedown by Santos or perhaps it was just good defense by Dubois which made him look bad.
Dubois displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Santos.
Dubois lets loose with a powerful body kick. Santos will feel that in the morning.
Pablo Santos is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Dubois with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Santos scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Chris Dubois comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Santos has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
