Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Haippa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Chong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tommy Chong has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Haippa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tommy Chong!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Saam Ante and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Haippa throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Chong was covering up waiting for the punch and Haippa finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Haippa thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Haippa drops back, looking for a kneebar! Chong looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Chong looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Chong!
Chong is looking to take a break and control but Haippa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chong thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Chong looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Chong goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Haippa has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Chong but great work by Haippa.
You can see the frustration on Chong's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Haippa is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Chong knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Haippa swings around for an armbar but Chong sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Haippa's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Haippa manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Haippa has a takedown stuffed.
Haippa is breathing heavily.

Chong clinches.

Chong breaks from the clinch.
Haippa shoots in looking for a takedown. Chong tries to sprawl out of it but Haippa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Chong manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
No luck for Haippa with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Haippa. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Chong scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chong slows the pace down.
Chong tries to move to full mount but Haippa actually manages to regain half guard.
Haippa is refusing to be controlled, as Chong sits in half guard.
Chong throwing shots but Haippa is blocking nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Chong trying to mount his opponent but Haippa defends it.
Chong trying to control from half guard but Haippa is working away.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Haippa tries to kick Chong off in order to stand up. Chong Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Chong tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Chong has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Chong wants to lay and pray for a moment but Haippa keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tommy Chong will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Haippa pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Haippa gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Chong counters with a left and a right that stings Haippa.
Haippa has his takedown stuffed

and Chong counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Chong.
Chong trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Haippa keeping moving, preventing Chong from controlling successfully.
Chong stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Haippa swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chong slips nicely into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chong thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Chong is keen to just control but Haippa is a slippery customer.

Chong looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Chong throwing shots but Haippa is blocking nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Chong.
Chong tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Chong goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Haippa rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Chong's guard! Nice work there by Haippa!
Chong is trying to keep Haippa in close.
Chong is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Haippa pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Chong is keeping the position for now.
Chong looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Haippa drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Haippa as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Chong screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Haippa! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). David Haippa!
