PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Don Juan DeMarco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pink Floyd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Floyd's choice of entrance music: Jay-Z - Empire State of Mind (feat Alicia Keys). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Don Juan DeMarco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pink Floyd!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Floyd digs a good hook to DeMarco's body.
Floyd tries to bum rush DeMarco with a series of wild strikes but DeMarco uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Floyd shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in DeMarco's guard.
Floyd works over DeMarco with some ground and pound from guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Floyd working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

DeMarco scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Floyd rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but DeMarco moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
DeMarco fails in his attempt to clinch.
Floyd misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

DeMarco darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

DeMarco decides to stand up.
Some wild striking there from Floyd.

DeMarco shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Floyd manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Floyd can do anything to dispel that myth.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
DeMarco postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

DeMarco wants to control from the top but Floyd keeps moving.

Floyd has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes DeMarco off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Floyd lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Floyd throws a nice looking combination but DeMarco bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Floyd looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? DeMarco is fending him off so far but Floyd persists. Nope, DeMarco circles away and we're back to standing.
Floyd throws a series of punches but DeMarco moves out of range.

DeMarco shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. DeMarco showed some decent athleticism there.
DeMarco has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
DeMarco lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
DeMarco looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Floyd with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

DeMarco decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
A jab lands there for Floyd.

Floyd swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Floyd throws a series of punches but DeMarco avoids them all with ease.
Floyd closes the distance and clinches up with DeMarco, looking for a takedown. Floyd pushes DeMarco against the cage but DeMarco circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Floyd misses with a series of wild punches.
Floyd tries to bum rush DeMarco with a series of wild strikes but DeMarco uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
DeMarco takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Good standup being displayed there by Floyd as he connects with a hook.
Floyd throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Floyd swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
DeMarco doesn't manage to clinch there - Floyd circles away.
DeMarco looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Floyd is fending him off so far but DeMarco persists. Nope, Floyd circles away and we're back to standing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Floyd will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

DeMarco looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Floyd!
Floyd flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Floyd regains half guard.
Floyd misses with some strikes from the bottom.
DeMarco throwing shots but Floyd is blocking nicely.
Floyd tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
DeMarco is trying to control the action in half guard but Floyd is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Floyd kicks off DeMarco and gets to his feet.
DeMarco shoots in but Floyd avoids the takedown attempt easily.

DeMarco has managed to clinch.

Floyd manages to pull guard.
Floyd keeping full guard, as DeMarco tries to pass.
DeMarco is breathing heavily.
Floyd is trying to keep DeMarco in close.

DeMarco drops back looking for a leg! Floyd is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Floyd manages to kick DeMarco off! DeMarco jumps back into Floyd's guard.
DeMarco working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Don Juan DeMarco will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Floyd bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
DeMarco on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Floyd lands a nice forearm strike.

Floyd connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused DeMarco some visible discomfort.
DeMarco wants to control but Floyd postures up.
Floyd lands an elbow.
Floyd lands some shots froms side control.
Floyd looking to punish the body of his opponent here but DeMarco is avoiding damage well.
Floyd scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at DeMarco to see if he's OK.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Floyd throws a strike aimed at the side of DeMarco's head but DeMarco avoids it well.
DeMarco is working to avoid the ground and pound but Floyd connects with a decent elbow.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
DeMarco takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Floyd is looking to take a break and control but DeMarco is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Floyd really doesn't want to stay on the ground with DeMarco. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

DeMarco tries to kick Floyd off but Floyd keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Floyd looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks DeMarco with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
DeMarco is staying active underneath Floyd, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
DeMarco is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Floyd's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Floyd's back!

DeMarco looking to break Floyd's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Floyd remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise DeMarco will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

I really don't envy Floyd right now.
Floyd breaks DeMarco's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

DeMarco is looking for a triangle but Floyd pushes his legs off easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Floyd lands a couple of digs.
Floyd throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as DeMarco works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Floyd stands up over DeMarco, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Floyd postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Floyd must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Pink Floyd showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


DeMarco is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Floyd throws a nice looking combination but DeMarco bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Floyd lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
DeMarco throws a right and a left that both miss.
Floyd will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
DeMarco walks into a stiff left hand from Floyd.
Floyd tries to clinch up but DeMarco circles away and keeps his distance.
DeMarco fails with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
DeMarco tries to close the distance and clinch up but Floyd swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and DeMarco counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by DeMarco.

Floyd throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! DeMarco escapes and throws Floyd's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

DeMarco stands up and we're back to a striking position.

DeMarco throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Floyd was covering up waiting for the punch and DeMarco finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Don Juan DeMarco overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

DeMarco lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Floyd is looking to get back to his feet here but DeMarco is keeping cool and he's managed to take Floyd's back.
DeMarco has Floyd flattened out and is raining down punches.

Floyd has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - DeMarco's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
DeMarco is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Floyd up.
DeMarco lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Floyd holding both DeMarco 's hands and preventing any damage.
DeMarco biding his time, looking for the opening.

Don Juan DeMarco showed his dominance in that final round.
I think DeMarco has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
