PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Derrick Dykemiller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Rock Litle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Derrick Dykemiller looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derrick Dykemiller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pedro Rock Litle!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Litle stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Litle wants it to stay on the feet.
Derrick Dykemiller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Litle looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Dykemiller!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Litle looking to finish with strikes here!
Litle can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dykemiller is looking to escape.

Litle stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Dykemiller misses with a few strikes there.
Dykemiller is breathing heavily.
Litle will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Litle darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Litle is trying to control. Dykemiller wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Litle wants to pass the guard but Dykemiller is defending well.
Dykemiller pushes Litle off looking to stand but Litle dives back in and keeps control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Litle throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Litle stands up and beckons Dykemiller to join him on the feet.

Dykemiller shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Litle napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Litle is trying to improve his position.
Litle wants to control but Dykemiller postures up.
Litle sneaks back into half guard.
Litle controlling the position well.

Dykemiller perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Litle is pressing down on Dykemiller's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Dykemiller stopping the sweep attempt from Litle.
Litle keeping moving, preventing Dykemiller from controlling successfully.
Dykemiller postures up.
Dykemiller looking to pass the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Litle is on top in guard.
Dykemiller working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Litle.
Litle wants to pass the guard but Dykemiller is keeping the position.

Dykemiller is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Litle lands a left hand that snaps the head of Dykemiller backwards.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pedro Rock Litle dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Dykemiller shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Litle napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Dykemiller content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Dykemiller tries to move to mount but Litle blocks the move with his legs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Litle is looking to regain half guard here but Dykemiller keeps moving and retains side control.

Litle wants to control but Dykemiller postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Litle.
Litle is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Dykemiller.
Dykemiller misses with a takedown

and Litle counters by clinching up.
Dykemiller is trying to break the clinch but Litle is controlling him.
Litle is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Litle has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Litle gets control of Dykemiller's arms and successfully pulls guard. Litle will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Litle is looking to sweep but instead, Dykemiller has passed into half guard.

Dykemiller seems to be looking for submissions.
Litle is looking to improve his position.
Dykemiller is controlling the pace.
Litle slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Litle throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Dykemiller escapes and throws Litle's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Litle is looking to reverse the position.
You can see the frustration on Litle's face as Dykemiller controls the position.
Litle is looking for a sweep.

Dykemiller stands up.
Dykemiller throws a wild body kick that Litle sees coming a mile off.

Dykemiller shoots in and drives through. Litle sprawls well.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Litle.
Dykemiller misses with a takedown

and Litle counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Dykemiller's guard now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Derrick Dykemiller. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dykemiller is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Litle is stalling in the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Derrick Dykemiller will probably get the nod.
That's time! Dykemiller's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Dykemiller swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Litle counters with a single leg into guard. Dykemiller didn't expect that.
Dykemiller utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Litle trying to control the position from guard on top but Dykemiller is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Litle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dykemiller swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Litle missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Dykemiller looking for a sweep. Not yet Dykemiller, not yet.
Litle looking to sit in guard and control but Dykemiller gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Litle is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Dykemiller shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dykemiller showed some decent athleticism there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Litle trying to control but Dykemiller postures up.
Litle wants to improve his position but Dykemiller is controlling well.
Litle is looking to get back to full guard here but Dykemiller has managed to pass to side control instead.
Dykemiller takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Litle is trying to escape the mount.

Dykemiller stands up from mount. Strange move.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dykemiller is defended easily by Litle.

Litle closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Litle lands in his opponent's guard.

Dykemiller has Litle pulled in close to control his posture.
Litle trying to stand up but can't free himself from Dykemiller's guard.
Dykemiller wants to stand but Litle is controlling the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Pedro Rock Litle.
I think Litle has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
