The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
connelly fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

connelly scores with a takedown into Saunders's guard.
connelly trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
connelly is working Saunders over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

connelly drops back, looking for a kneebar! Saunders looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Saunders looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Saunders!
Saunders is looking to take a break and control but connelly is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

connelly is not content to let Saunders control the position.

connelly tries to improve position but can't.
connelly sneaks back into half guard.
Saunders wants to get back to his feet.
connelly tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Saunders perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Saunders tries to pass to full mount but connelly defends it.
Saunders prevents connelly from standing back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Saunders wants to stand but connelly has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
connelly manages to get to full guard.
connelly looks gassed!

connelly has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Saunders should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, connelly has tightened it up now! Saunders should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
