Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alejandro Sanchez!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Sanchez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Payne as he avoids it easily.
Payne moves in looking to clinch but Sanchez pushes him off.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Sanchez shoots in for a double leg but Payne sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Thomas Payne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alejandro Sanchez.

Payne changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sanchez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Sanchez takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Payne seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sanchez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Payne can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Sanchez slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Sanchez wants to control but Payne is keeping him busy.

Sanchez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sanchez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Sanchez in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Sanchez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Payne knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Sanchez is working for a kimura but Payne is defending it quite comfortably.
Payne is looking to control Sanchez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Payne avoid being mounted?
Sanchez passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Payne!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
