Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Rogers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Geo Jr!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rogers shoots for a double leg takedown but Jr sprawls well. He's pushed Rogers's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rogers moves in looking to clinch but Jr pushes him off.
Jr fails to land with a series of punches.
Rogers lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jr circles away quickly and effectively.
Jr doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Rogers misses with a body kick.

Rogers gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jr to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Jr tries to free his leg and advance position but Rogers is retaining full guard.
Jr is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jr looking to sit in guard and control but Rogers gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Rogers trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Rogers is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jr is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jr has escaped and now he's on top!
Jr must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Jr got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rogers has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jr has managed to get both his arms back between Rogers's legs - danger averted.
Jr wants to control from the top but Rogers keeps moving.

Jr stands up from Rogers's guard - Jr perhaps looking for a knockout.

and Jr counters with a shoot takedown. Rogers fights it but they end up in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rogers trying to keep a closed guard but Jr is proving a slippery customer.
Jr controlling from the top position.
Jr has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rogers is proving hard to escape from.

Jr wanted to stand there but Rogers had control of the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jr is standing up over Rogers. Rogers looks to escape but Jr dives into side control.
Jr scores with a couple of short elbows.
Rogers is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Jr is trying to control the action in half guard but Rogers is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jr is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Rogers wants to control but Jr is keeping busy.
Jr trying to control from half guard but Rogers is working away.

Rogers looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Geo Jr dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Rogers waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Jr.
Jr wants to clinch.
A head kick misses from Rogers.

Jr instigates a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rogers drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Jr breaks from the clinch.
Jr lands with a kick to the ribs.

Jr closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rogers did well to prevent Jr getting side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jr slips a nice elbow through Rogers's hands, connecting with Rogers's forehead.
Jr performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Rogers is refusing to be controlled, as Jr sits in half guard.

Rogers actively working from the bottom here.
Jr wants to take a breather but Rogers is having none of it.
Jr tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rogers knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rogers wants to control but Jr is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jr lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rogers circles away quickly and effectively.
Jr shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rogers sprawls well. Rogers wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jr gets slowly back to his feet.
Rogers swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jr wants to clinch
and Rogers counters with a stiff right hand.


It looks like Geo Jr has been cut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rogers throws a leg kick that misses.
Rogers misses with a body shot.
Rogers misses with a takedown attempt

and Jr counters with a shoot takedown. Rogers fights it but they end up in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jr trying to control the position from guard on top but Rogers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jr in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Jr distracts Rogers with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Jr is posturing up here but Rogers has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Jr tries to roll out but it's too tight and Jr has to tap! Slick submission there by Rogers!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mike Rogers!
