The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kwadwo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Nix just misses with a punch to the body.

The fighters circling - Nix throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Nix tries to bum rush Kwadwo with a series of wild strikes but Kwadwo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Kwadwo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Kwadwo wants to control from the top but Nix keeps moving.
Nix looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kwadwo is one step ahead there.
Nix can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kwadwo controls the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kwadwo lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Kwadwo misses with a head kick.
Nix throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kwadwo.
Nix avoids the body shot from Kwadwo.
Kwadwo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kwadwo throws a body punch but Nix moves out of range.
Alhassan Kwadwo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kwadwo is looking to slow Nix down with leg kicks.
Kwadwo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nix moves away.
Kwadwo tries to clinch there but Nix circles away.
Kwadwo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nix misses the body punch

and Kwadwo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Nix won't be happy with that.
Kwadwo looking to control but instead Nix has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Kwadwo is stalling here. Nix is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Kwadwo seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Nix has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Kwadwo is looking for a sweep.
Kwadwo parries the strikes from Nix easily there. Nix is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kwadwo to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kwadwo is trying to control Nix's posture but Nix avoids it.
Kwadwo takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Kwadwo is trying to work for a sweep but Nix has mounted him!
Kwadwo is wriggling around trying to escape.
Nix has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Nix has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kwadwo's face.
