PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zacharia Temeluchus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hernesto Guerra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Zacharia Temeluchus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hernesto Guerra!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Lou da Vinci and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab-cross combination lands for Temeluchus and sends Guerra crashing to the mat! Temeluchus follows him down to the mat - Guerra regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


Guerra is rocked!

Temeluchus seems to be working for a kimura but Guerra defends the submission attempt.
Guerra is still in real trouble! Can Temeluchus finish him?
Temeluchus tries to pass to full mount but Guerra defends it.
Guerra seems to have recovered his senses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Guerra is staying active underneath Temeluchus, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Temeluchus stalling.
Temeluchus is trying to control the action in half guard but Guerra is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Temeluchus perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Guerra looks gassed!
Guerra is not content to let Temeluchus control the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Some wild striking there from Temeluchus.

Temeluchus cracks Guerra with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Temeluchus blocks Guerra's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Guerra is squirming around, avoiding Temeluchus's attempts to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Temeluchus is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Guerra can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Guerra wants to control but Temeluchus is having none of it.
Guerra is desperately trying to improve his position but Temeluchus has a good base and remains in mount.
Guerra has given up his back. Will we see Temeluchus going for some submissions?
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Temeluchus is looking to control Guerra but Guerra is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Guerra is trying to stand back up.
Guerra surviving as best he can, preventing damage.

Guerra turns into Temeluchus and is now in his guard.
Temeluchus controls Guerra momentarily but Guerra frees himself.
Temeluchus wants to sweep here but Guerra controlling him for the moment.
Temeluchus throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Temeluchus lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Guerra!
Temeluchus wants to control the pace but Guerra is squirming around nicely.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Temeluchus jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Guerra manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Guerra is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Temeluchus off and has taken his back!
Temeluchus tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Guerra wants to control the pace but Temeluchus is squirming around nicely.
Temeluchus avoids a series of strikes thrown by Guerra.
Temeluchus wants to control but Guerra is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zacharia Temeluchus dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Temeluchus lands a glancing blow to the side of Guerra's head.
Guerra throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Temeluchus's waist but Temeluchus gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Guerra off to one side.

Temeluchus doesn't manage to clinch there - Guerra circles away.
Temeluchus throws a right and a left that both miss.
Zacharia Temeluchus is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Temeluchus is looking to clinch but Guerra is avoiding it.
Temeluchus gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Guerra counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Temeluchus controls Guerra momentarily but Guerra frees himself.
Guerra not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Guerra trying to control the position from guard on top but Temeluchus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Guerra throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Temeluchus works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Temeluchus trying to keep a closed guard but Guerra is proving a slippery customer.
Temeluchus trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Temeluchus is trying to keep Guerra in close.

Guerra avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Guerra gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Temeluchus tries to score a body lock takedown but Guerra shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Guerra is trying to break free.
Temeluchus jumps guard but Guerra stands there with Temeluchus around his waist. Temeluchus gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zacharia Temeluchus. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Guerra tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Temeluchus just stands there and leans against the cage.

Temeluchus is fighting off a takedown attempt but Guerra is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Temeluchus to the mat. Temeluchus regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Temeluchus wants to get back to his feet but Guerra passes into half guard.

Temeluchus has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Guerra is working away from the top position though.

Temeluchus works his way to full guard. Good work.

Temeluchus working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Guerra doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Guerra manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Temeluchus misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Guerra.

Guerra is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Temeluchus is looking for a triangle but Guerra pushes his legs off easily.
Temeluchus doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Guerra must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Temeluchus is on top in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Guerra is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Guerra dodges the ground and pound from Temeluchus.

Temeluchus is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Guerra has escaped the position, nice work there.
Temeluchus wants to lay and pray for a moment but Guerra keeps working.
Temeluchus is really struggling to control Guerra but he's trying to hold on to the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Temeluchus is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Guerra knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Hernesto Guerra will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Guerra doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Temeluchus slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Temeluchus drops Guerra with a beautiful combination! Guerra stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Temeluchus is looking for the KO!


Guerra is rocked!
Temeluchus drops Guerra with a straight right hand, right on the button! Temeluchus follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:22 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Zacharia Temeluchus!
