Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Calton Cole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luke Danes!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cole fails with the takedown.
Cole shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Danes as he jumps to the side.
Danes throws a sloppy head kick and Cole moves out of range easily.
Cole avoids the head kick by Danes.

Danes rushes Cole and presses him up against the cage.
Danes lands a nice elbow.
Nice elbow from Danes.
Danes landing knees to the head.
Danes connects with a nasty looking knee right to Cole's face.
Knees in the clinch landing for Danes.

Danes breaks the clinch.
Danes doesn't manage to clinch there - Cole circles away.
Cole dives in and grabs Danes's left leg, looking for a takedown. Danes pushes down on Cole's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Calton Cole. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Danes closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Danes tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Danes missing with knees to the body.
Cole jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Danes walks away with a smile on his face. Cole gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Danes leaves Cole with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Cole is trying hard to land a takedown here. Danes sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Danes wants to clinch.

Danes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cole can't keep his opponent in guard - Danes advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Danes takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Danes uses his free foot to push down on Cole's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Cole.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Danes content just to control the position here.

Despite being in the dominant position, Luke Danes just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Danes moves into the clinch successfully.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Danes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Danes wants to clinch up but Cole keeps it at a distance.
Cole will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Danes darts in and clinches Cole up against the cage.

Danes is trying to trip Cole. He has hold of a leg but Cole is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Danes persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Danes controlling the pace for now.

Danes is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Cole has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Danes content just to control the position here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Luke Danes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Cole shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Danes but Danes pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Danes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cole swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Danes moves into range and clinches up with Cole.
Danes lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Calton Cole has been cut.
Danes with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Danes changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Cole fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Danes tries to score a body lock takedown but Cole shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Danes takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Danes tries to clinch but Cole is having none of it.

Danes moves into range and clinches up with Cole.

Luke Danes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Danes clinches up with Cole and pushes him back against the cage.
Danes lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

Danes can't get the takedown.
Calton Cole has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luke Danes.
Danes lands an elbow inside that Cole shrugs off.
Luke Danes seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Cole is fighting off a takedown attempt but Danes is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Cole to the mat. Cole regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Let's hope that Danes has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Well Danes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
