PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Heartman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dom Danky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Heartman comes to the cage accompanied by Heartman Theme song. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Heartman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dom Danky!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heartman slips under a jab.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Heartman.
Danky throws a jab but it's blocked by Heartman.
Danky lands the left hand.
Heartman avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Heartman slips a jab and a cross from Danky.
Danky fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Heartman counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Heartman.

Heartman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Danky is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Danky keeping moving, preventing Heartman from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Heartman looking to sit in guard and control but Danky gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Danky is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Heartman looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Danky passes into side control.

Heartman tries to buck Danky off but Danky is having none of it.

Heartman is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Danky off and has taken his back!

Heartman looking to break Danky's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Danky remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Heartman will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Heartman is not going to allow Danky to sit and survive in this position.

Danky covering up well and avoiding damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Danky is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Heartman is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

Danky lands a jab to the nose.

and Danky counters with a left and a right that stings Heartman.
Heartman misses with a takedown
and Heartman takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Heartman doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Danky counters with a nice uppercut.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Heartman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Danky throws an overhand right that lands on Heartman's shoulder, as Heartman tries to avoid the shot.

Danky thows a body shot but no joy.
Heartman misses with a takedown
and Danky counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Danky is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Heartman takes one on the button.

Heartman throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Danky was covering up waiting for the punch and Heartman finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Danky is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Heartman is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Danky is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Danky has escaped and now he's on top!
Danky really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Heartman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Heartman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Heartman looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Danky puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Heartman is looking to control Danky's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Heartman avoid being mounted?

Danky tries to pass the half guard into mount. Heartman knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Danky looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Heartman misses with a takedown attempt
and Danky counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Danky throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Heartman sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Danky might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Danky throws a sloppy head kick and Heartman moves out of range easily.
Heartman lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Danky circles away quickly and effectively.
Danky connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dom Danky showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Danky, as that shot connected.

Heartman uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Danky.
Heartman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Danky counters with a stiff right hand.
Heartman has his takedown stuffed
and Danky counters with a straight right hand.
Danky lands a jab to the head.
Heartman throws a sloppy head kick
and Danky counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Heartman thinking.
A slow jab from Heartman misses its intended target.
Heartman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Danky counters with a lovely straight right hand!

And that's the end of the fight!
Dom Danky comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Danky has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
