The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Sosuke Kotani and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ishii scores a takedown into full mount!
Pain is in all sorts of trouble here.
Pain regains half guard.
Ishii really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ishii might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Pain kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Ishii is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Pain has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ishii can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Ishii is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pain has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Ishii is fighting to break Pain's control of his arms but Pain is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Pain is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

and Ishii counters with a shoot takedown. Pain fights it but they end up in guard.

Ishii throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Ishii. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Ishii takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
