PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Micheal Deacino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Rage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Micheal Deacino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Roy Rage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rage throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Deacino on the side of the head.
Deacino tries to clinch but Rage is having none of it.
Deacino throws a hook to the side of Rage's head but Rage sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Deacino!
Deacino misses with an uppercut.

Deacino gets caught flat footed, as Rage shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Rage controlling from the top position.
Rage throwing strikes from guard but Deacino blocks nicely.
Deacino keeping moving, preventing Rage from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rage postures up in Deacino's guard and throws a big left but Deacino blocks it.
Rage pushes down on Deacino's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Rage has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Rage has control of Deacino's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Deacino regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Deacino tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rage throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Deacino's waist but Deacino gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rage off to one side.
Rage fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Deacino swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Rage feints and as Deacino raises his hands in defense, Rage changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Rage lands a couple of elbows.
Rage tries to free his leg and advance position but Deacino is retaining full guard.

Rage stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Deacino swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Deacino.

Rage tries to clinch up
and Deacino counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Deacino throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Deacino stuffs the takedown attempt from Rage. Rage gets slowly back to his feet.
Micheal Deacino has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roy Rage.

Rage closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Rage is looking to advance position but Deacino won't allow it.
Deacino is staying active underneath Rage, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Rage is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Deacino is trying to stand up here but Rage is controlling him well.

Rage wants to free his trapped foot but Deacino is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Rage is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Deacino doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rage.
Rage is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Deacino reverses the position - he's now on top in Rage's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rage ducks under a wild hook from Deacino.
Rage wants to clinch up but Deacino keeps it at a distance.
Deacino tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rage was well out of range. Poor timing from Deacino.
Micheal Deacino seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Deacino throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Rage fails with a takedown attempt.
Rage steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Deacino.

Roy Rage showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Roy Rage is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Micheal Deacino.
I think Rage has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
