PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Noah Qualls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derrick Rose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Rose's choice of entrance music: Mama Said Knock You Out. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Derrick Rose!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rose misses with a two punch combination.
A slow jab from Qualls misses its intended target.
Rose moves out of range as Qualls throws a body kick.
Qualls doesn't manage to clinch there - Rose circles away.
Noah Qualls seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Qualls changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rose tries to avoid it but Qualls manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rose to the ground. Rose escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Qualls swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Rose counters with a nice uppercut.
Rose displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Qualls throws out the jab.
Qualls doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Rose counters with a stiff right hand.
Rose on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Qualls. Qualls obviously looking to wear him down.
A left lands for Rose.
Qualls misses with a low kick.
Qualls throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rose.

Qualls fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Rose is out of range.

and Rose counters with a crisp one two that drops Qualls! Rose thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Qualls to his feet! Qualls is in big trouble!

Rose closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Rose is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Qualls gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Qualls stalling the fight.
Qualls has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Rose drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Qualls gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Rose drops down looking for an ankle pick but Qualls pulls his leg out and moves away.
Qualls shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Rose counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rose looks to land a combination. Qualls sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Qualls looks to land a left hand but Rose moved out of range nicely.
Rose scores with a one two! Qualls had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Qualls is breathing heavily.
Rose dips to his left and cracks Qualls with an uppercut!
Qualls dodges the punch combination from Rose.
Rose connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Qualls darts in trying to clinch
and Rose counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Qualls misses with a double jab

and Rose counters with a nice right hand that sends Qualls toppling to the canvas! Qualls scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Rose finish him?!
Rose connects with a nice cross there... Qualls is looking wobbly and Rose recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send Qualls to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - Rose jumps onto the cage to celebrate with the crowd!
