The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Serra throws a low kick but it's checked well by Powers.
Serra takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Serra looks to throw the jab but Powers is out of range.
Serra throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Powers sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Serra throws the left hand but Powers avoids the punch easily.
Matt Serra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Powers is looking to slow Serra down with leg kicks.

Powers fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Serra sprawls well initially but Powers persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Powers slows the pace down in half guard.
Powers takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Serra can do anything to dispel that myth.
