PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Connor McLoughlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuwill Submitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McLoughlin's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Blood of Cu Chulainn. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McLoughlin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Submitt throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Submitt closes the distance and clinches up with McLoughlin, looking for a takedown. Submitt pushes McLoughlin against the cage but McLoughlin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Submitt slips a straight right by McLoughlin.

Submitt shoots in and bounces McLoughlin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Submitt prevents McLoughlin from getting back to his feet.

Submitt drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but McLoughlin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Submitt has McLoughlin in his guard.

McLoughlin throws a nice looking combination but Submitt bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Submitt has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from McLoughlin finds it's way round the side to connect with Submitt's head.

Submitt shoots in and drives through. McLoughlin sprawls well.
Submitt throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The fighters circling - McLoughlin throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
McLoughlin throws a looping overhand right but Submitt ducks down to avoid it.
Donk. McLoughlin catches Submitt right on the button with a cross.

McLoughlin slaps away a takedown attempt from Submitt, before circling back to the center of the mat.

McLoughlin wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
McLoughlin throws out a loose jab but Submitt uses good head movement to avoid it.
Horrible takedown by Submitt or perhaps it was just good defense by McLoughlin which made him look bad.

McLoughlin throws a body punch but Submitt moves out of range.

Submitt tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Submitt has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Submitt goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, McLoughlin rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Submitt's guard! Nice work there by McLoughlin!

It looks like Connor McLoughlin has been cut.

Submitt postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! McLoughlin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Submitt, into his guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McLoughlin wanted to stand there but Submitt had control of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Oh but Submitt is tightening it up a little... McLoughlin has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! McLoughlin reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! McLoughlin taps out! nice BJJ there by Submitt!
