Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joe Mcpaene!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenshiro Yamamoto!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamamoto keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Yamamoto looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Mcpaene trying to hold on to Yamamoto's head to control him but Yamamoto postures up.
Yamamoto is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Mcpaene can't escape the position.
Mcpaene tries to hold on but Yamamoto pushes him away.
Yamamoto looking to control but Mcpaene is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Mcpaene is working to get back to half guard.

Yamamoto is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Mcpaene to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Mcpaene shrugs it off.
Mcpaene working to try and regain half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mcpaene wants to control but Yamamoto is having none of it.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Yamamoto prevents Mcpaene from getting the reversal.
Mcpaene wants to hold on but Yamamoto pushes him away.
Mcpaene tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Mcpaene regains half guard.
Yamamoto wants to pass the guard but Mcpaene is defending well.
Mcpaene blocking the ground and pound attempt from Yamamoto.
Mcpaene is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Mcpaene is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Yamamoto's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Yamamoto's back!
You can see the frustration on Yamamoto's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Yamamoto is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Mcpaene off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mcpaene lands a shot to the head.
Mcpaene is trying to stick to Yamamoto's back but Yamamoto is turning into Mcpaene. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Mcpaene's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Yamamoto.
Mcpaene looking for a sweep. Not yet Mcpaene, not yet.

Mcpaene has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Yamamoto can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Mcpaene is breathing heavily.
Mcpaene has momentary wrist control but Yamamoto slips an elbow through the middle.

Yamamoto is posturing up here but Mcpaene has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Yamamoto tries to roll out but it's too tight and Yamamoto has to tap! Slick submission there by Mcpaene!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Joe Mcpaene!
