Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Christ!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Roberts!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Roberts feints and as Christ raises his hands in defense, Roberts changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Roberts pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Christ is keeping the position for now.
Roberts trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Christ wants to stand up but Roberts is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roberts trying to control but Christ is working from the bottom.
Christ has control of Roberts's left arm, preventing Roberts from doing any damage.
Christ on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Christ tries to get out of the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Christ closes the distance and clinches.
Roberts tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Christ avoids it.
Christ keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Roberts's efforts to push away.
Roberts wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Christ is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Roberts gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Christ sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Roberts is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Roberts counters with a thumping low kick.

Christ closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Christ lands in his opponent's guard.

Christ shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Roberts defends it nicely.

and Christ counters with a right hand to the body.

Roberts leaves Christ with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
John Christ is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Christ is nestled in close to Roberts, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Christ changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Roberts tries to avoid it but Christ manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Roberts to the ground. Roberts escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Christ lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Roberts tries for a takedown but Christ sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Roberts misses with a takedown attempt - Christ sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Christ doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Roberts counters with a nice double leg into side control. Christ won't be happy with that.

Roberts stands up and beckons Christ to his feet.
Roberts fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Christ avoids it really well and circles away.
Christ stalks Roberts and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Roberts's face. Roberts staggers backwards, shaken.
Christ connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Christ is looking to work some ground and pound but Roberts has wrist control.
Roberts is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Roberts is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Christ bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Christ manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Roberts is bucking up trying to escape but Christ cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Well Christ has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
