Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Helio Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Trey Money!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Money is defended easily by Gracie.

Gracie gets the takedown into side control.

Gracie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gracie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Gracie is trying to get an arm triangle but Money is defending well.
Gracie tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Gracie advances to full mount.
Money really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Gracie working for a submission but Money is keeping him at bay.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Money is surviving well by controlling Gracie's body position as best he can.

Gracie is breathing heavily.
Money is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Money really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Money is in all sorts of trouble here.

Money is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Gracie is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Money to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Money shrugs it off.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Gracie goes for an armbar but Money turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Money.
Money works over Gracie with some ground and pound from guard.

Money stands up and waves to Gracie to follow him.

Money bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Gracie is looking to regain half guard here but Money keeps moving and retains side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Money works to advance to full mount. Gracie defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Gracie keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Money lands a big elbow.
Money is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Gracie can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Gracie regains half guard.
Money not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Gracie makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gracie.
Money preventing the sweep.
Money working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Money thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Money stopping the sweep attempt from Gracie.
Money trying to control but Gracie is working from the bottom.
Gracie preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Money gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gracie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Money is keeping the position for now.
Money wants to stand up but Gracie is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Helio Gracie dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Gracie closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gracie lands in his opponent's guard.
Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Money swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Money controls Gracie momentarily but Gracie frees himself.
Money wants to stand but Gracie is controlling the position.

Money is breathing heavily.
Gracie slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie advances to mount.

Gracie has hold of Money's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Money manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Money is working to get back to half guard.

Gracie has isolated one of Money's arms. Money looking to fight him off but Gracie twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Helio Gracie!
