PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between homer simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stan Dardey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dardey is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Amazing. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, homer simpson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stan Dardey!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
simpson misses with a two punch combination.
Dardey tries to move into range but simpson moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
simpson takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
A nice combination there by simpson.

Dardey darts in and clinches simpson up against the cage.

simpson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
simpson fails in his attempt to clinch.

Dardey closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dardey lands in his opponent's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Dardey not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

simpson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Dardey seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
I looks like Dardey might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Good leg kick by Dardey there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
simpson throws a head kick but Dardey moves out of range.
Dardey slips a jab and a cross from simpson.
simpson is breathing heavily.
Dardey shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as simpson sprawls well. simpson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dardey gets slowly back to his feet.

Dardey closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Dardey has dropped down and is working for a takedown. simpson is trying to keep an underhook but Dardey manages to get the takedown into half guard.

simpson tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Dardey is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Dardey prevents simpson from standing back up.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Dardey in particular looking to stall.

Dardey decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Dardey shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in simpson's guard.

Dardey decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
simpson chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Dardey can pounce on him.

homer simpson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stan Dardey.

Dardey closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
simpson is letting Dardey control him for a moment.

simpson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Dardey wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Dardey is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt simpson will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Dardey stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows simpson to get to his feet.

and Dardey counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for simpson!
Dardey takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Dardey clinches.

Dardey decides to pull guard.
Dardey seems keen to control simpson's posture.
Dardey is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Dardey has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Dardey has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Dardey pushes simpson off and gets back to his feet.

Dardey feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Dardey sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed simpson's guard.

simpson takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

simpson misses with a takedown attempt - Dardey sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Dardey shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. simpson is trying to defend but Dardey finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
simpson is looking for a sweep. Dardey is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Dardey decides to return to a standing position.
Dardey buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

simpson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Dardey to score an easy takedown into full guard.
simpson is looking to stand up but Dardey isn't so interested in that idea.

Well Dardey has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
