PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ken Bendersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodrigo Cambara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bendersen kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Love it loud. The crowd seem to be enjoying Cambara's choice of entrance music: Peleia. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ken Bendersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rodrigo Cambara!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bendersen keeps the fight on the outside.
Cambara throws a wild body kick that Bendersen sees coming a mile off.
Rodrigo Cambara seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cambara lands a lovely overhand right.

Bendersen scores a takedown into full mount!
Bendersen controlling his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cambara really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Bendersen sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Bendersen seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cambara for as long as he can get away with.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Cambara tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bendersen swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Cambara clinches but Bendersen breaks the clinch

An elbow from Bendersen crashes against the mat.
Bendersen misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Cambara explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Cambara tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Bendersen counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cambara's guard now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cambara misses with a leg kick

and Bendersen counters with a shoot takedown. Cambara fights it but they end up in guard.
Bendersen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Cambara wants to clinch but Bendersen slips to the side

and Bendersen counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bendersen.
Cambara is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bendersen in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Bendersen not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Bendersen's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Bendersen steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Cambara.
Cambara tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

and Bendersen counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cambara won't be happy with that.

Cambara is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bendersen asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Cambara is breathing heavily.

Bendersen is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Cambara will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

That's time! Bendersen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Cambara clinches but Bendersen breaks the clinch

and Bendersen moves into the clinch.

Bendersen ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Bendersen no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Bendersen wants to sweep but no luck.
Cambara is looking to stand up but Bendersen won't let him.

Bendersen is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Cambara takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Bendersen has hold of one of Cambara's legs. Cambara is fighting the takedown attempt but Bendersen gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Cambara throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Cambara throws a series of punches but Bendersen moves out of range.

Well Bendersen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
