PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robbie Langler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mathew Briar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mathew Briar was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Robbie Langler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mathew Briar!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Langler shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Briar sprawls well. Briar wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Langler gets slowly back to his feet.
Langler on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Langler circles away from the clinch attempt.

Briar closes the distance and clinches.

Langler's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Langler dives in and grabs Briar's left leg, looking for a takedown. Briar pushes down on Langler's head and hops out.

Briar clinches.
Langler tries to break free but Briar pushes him back against the cage.
Briar effectively controlling the action here.
Briar pushes off an throws an elbow but Langler leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Langler jumps guard but Briar stands there with Langler around his waist. Langler gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robbie Langler. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Briar breaks the clinch.
Briar tries to clinch up.
Briar looks for the body kick but Langler saw that one coming.
Langler swings for the body but Briar moves out of range.
Langler throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Briar.
Briar misses with a few strikes there.
Briar leaves Langler with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Some bone on bone action there as Briar checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Briar is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Langler moves in looking to clinch but Briar pushes him off.
Briar tries a low kick but Langler avoids it.

Briar shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Briar is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Langler tries to get to full guard but Briar has control of the leg.
Briar throwing shots but Langler is blocking nicely.

Briar wants to work for an arm triangle but Langler is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Langler knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Briar on the ground.
Briar moves into full mount! Langler won't be happy about that!
Briar dominating with strikes here.
Langler swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Briar scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Langler?
Langler is looking to get to half guard.
Briar working away from the top, dropping strikes.


It looks like Robbie Langler has been cut.
Langler is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Briar lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Robbie Langler's cut is getting worse.

Briar looking to isolate an arm here. Langler doesn't see it coming and as Briar extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Briar!
