Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nikolai Russki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Mack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Russki kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is FOR MOTHER RUSSIA. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nikolai Russki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sam Mack!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksandr Martynov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mack misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mack scores with a nice body kick.
Russki takes a swing at Mack's ribcage but misses.
Mack fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mack.

Russki bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Mack is doing well to control the position and prevent Russki from advancing to side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mack is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Russki scores with a couple of nice shots.
Russki looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mack with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Russki's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Russki seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mack for as long as he can get away with.
