Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Steckel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hall has chosen This Could Be Anywhere In The World as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jon Steckel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Hall!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Steckel gets a takedown into half guard.
Hall wants to control but Steckel is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Steckel is looking for a kimura here.
Hall wants to improve his position but Steckel is controlling well.
Steckel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hall on the ground.
Hall is refusing to be controlled, as Steckel sits in half guard.
Hall is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Steckel's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Steckel's back!
Steckel breaks Hall's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Hall avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Steckel has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Steckel is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hall is on top in guard.

Hall thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Steckel will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Steckel utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hall is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Steckel controls Hall momentarily but Hall frees himself.
Steckel is breathing heavily.
Hall pushing down on Steckel's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Hall keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Steckel is staying active underneath Hall, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Steckel tries to get to full guard but Hall has control of the leg.
Steckel on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Steckel tries to get out of the position.
Steckel moves into full guard.
Hall trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hall trying to control but Steckel is working from the bottom.
Hall advances to half guard.
Steckel is trying to get back to full guard.
Hall trying to pass the guard but Steckel defending well.
Steckel tries to get to full guard but Hall has control of the leg.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Hall gets caught flat footed, as Steckel shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Hall keeping moving, preventing Steckel from controlling successfully.
Steckel passes into half guard.
Steckel wants to take a breather but Hall is having none of it.
Steckel wants to pass the guard but Hall is defending well.
Steckel is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Steckel seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hall does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Hall is positioning himself well to prevent Steckel advancing to mount.
Steckel takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Hall has hold of Steckel's hands but Steckel slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Steckel landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Steckel wants to control but Hall is keeping him busy.
Steckel wants to advance to full mount but Hall doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Steckel stopping the sweep attempt from Hall.
Hall trying to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon Steckel dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Steckel closes the distance and clinches.
Steckel tries for a takedown. No joy.
Hall goes for a takedown in the clinch but Steckel prevents it.
Steckel is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Hall pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Steckel tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Steckel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hall wants a takedown but no success here.

Hall gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Hall is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Steckel doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hall.
Hall stalling.
Hall works his way into full mount!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hall controlling the position easily from mount.

Hall swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
