The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Szczevnikov shoots for a double leg takedown but Fionte sprawls well. He's pushed Szczevnikov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Fionte shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Szczevnikov takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Fionte thuds his right hand into Szczevnikov's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Fionte cracks Szczevnikov with a good jab.
Szczevnikov will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Szczevnikov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fionte's waist but Fionte gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Szczevnikov off to one side.
Nice sprawl there from Fionte as Szczevnikov shoots in.

Szczevnikov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fionte but Fionte pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Fionte throws a series of punches but Szczevnikov moves out of range.

Fionte tries to score a power double leg takedown but Szczevnikov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fionte somewhat.

Szczevnikov is breathing heavily.

Szczevnikov gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fionte is looking for a sweep. Szczevnikov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Szczevnikov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Fionte looks like he's trying to stand up.
Fionte makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Fionte.
Fionte wants to get back to his feet but Szczevnikov is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Szczevnikov drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Fionte manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Szczevnikov has Fionte in his guard.

Fionte drops back looking for a leg! Szczevnikov is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Szczevnikov manages to kick Fionte off! Fionte jumps back into Szczevnikov's guard.

Fionte wants to control from the top but Szczevnikov keeps moving.
Fionte really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Szczevnikov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Szczevnikov throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Fionte was covering up waiting for the punch and Szczevnikov finishes the takedown easily into guard.
