Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Puma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Halkias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Puma comes to the cage accompanied by Rock You Like A Hurricane. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puma swinging wildly here.
Halkias shoots in for a takedown but Puma shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Halkias shoots in for a double leg but Puma sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Halkias fails with a takedown attempt.
Johnny Puma has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Halkias.
Puma misses with a few strikes there.
Halkias with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Puma to score with a decent uppercut.
Puma tries to bum rush Halkias with a series of wild strikes but Halkias uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Halkias shoots in but no luck this time.
Halkias shoots in and drives through. Puma sprawls well.
Halkias looks gassed!
Halkias shoots in for a takedown but Puma shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Puma lands a nice looking body shot.

Puma closes the distance and clinches.
Puma has a couple of punches blocked by Halkias.
Puma lands a damaging elbow.

Puma breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Horrible takedown by Halkias or perhaps it was just good defense by Puma which made him look bad.
Puma cracks the inside of Halkias's front leg.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Puma connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Halkias displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Puma.
Puma throws a series of strikes that have Halkias backpedaling.
Puma lands a high kick!

It looks like Steve Halkias has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Puma lands a hook that stumbles Halkias back into the cage. Puma follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Halkias to the canvas! Puma pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Halkias has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
