Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Laupias Jononoinen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael James!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Shimada and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jononoinen fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Jononoinen has taken the fight to the clinch.
James has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jononoinen avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

James breaks from the clinch.
Nice sprawl there from James as Jononoinen shoots in.

James shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jononoinen's guard.
James wants to pass the guard but Jononoinen is keeping the position.
Jononoinen is looking to stand up but James isn't so interested in that idea.

Laupias Jononoinen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael James.

Jononoinen decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
James misses with a takedown attempt - Jononoinen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

James is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Jononoinen pulls his head out easily.

Jononoinen wants to lay and pray for a moment but James keeps working.
Jononoinen takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Jononoinen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but James does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
James moves into full guard.

James working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jononoinen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jononoinen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

James manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jononoinen manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

James stands up and waves to Jononoinen to follow him.
Laupias Jononoinen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horrible takedown by James or perhaps it was just good defense by Jononoinen which made him look bad.

James manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now James is on top in guard.

James seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Jononoinen is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
