Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Simon Koob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Gavazzo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Koob's entrance music is The Offspring- Stuff is messed up. A fine choice. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Simon Koob!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dan Gavazzo!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Illya Tyunina and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koob fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Koob fails with an attempt to clinch.
Koob shoots in for a takedown but Gavazzo shows good takedown defense.
Gavazzo stuffs the takedown attempt from Koob. Koob gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Simon Koob. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Koob dives in and grabs Gavazzo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gavazzo pushes down on Koob's head and hops out.

Gavazzo throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Koob was covering up waiting for the punch and Gavazzo finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Gavazzo wants to control from the top but Koob keeps moving.
Koob is trying to keep Gavazzo in close.

Gavazzo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Gavazzo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Koob swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gavazzo stays in close to Koob's body and controls the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gavazzo wants to control from the top but Koob keeps moving.

Koob wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Gavazzo is now in half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gavazzo connects with a nice short shot to Koob's temple.

Gavazzo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Koob sprawls well initially but Gavazzo persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Koob is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Koob wants to control but Gavazzo is having none of it.
Gavazzo fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Gavazzo lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Koob regains half guard.

Gavazzo is trying to control. Koob wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Koob moves into full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Gavazzo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Gavazzo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Koob looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Koob is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Gavazzo off and has taken his back!
Koob slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Gavazzo is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Gavazzo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Dan Gavazzo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Gavazzo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Koob swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dan Gavazzo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Gavazzo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
