The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Sano.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

It looks like Lyoto Machida has been cut.
Machida checks a low kick from Thompson.
Machida throws out a loose jab but Thompson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Thompson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Thompson misses with a wild body shot.
Machida throws a big shot that misses.
Thompson throws a head kick but Machida moves out of range.
Thompson tries to land a front kick but Machida steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Machida throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Thompson.
Machida fails to land the takedown.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Machida throws a jab but it's blocked by Thompson.
Thompson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Machida shoots in for a takedown but Thompson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Machida on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Thompson. Thompson obviously looking to wear him down.
Machida looks to land a combination but Thompson avoids it well.
Thompson connects with a solid leg kick.
Machida is breathing heavily.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Thompson.

Machida on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Thompson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Thompson throws a wild body kick that Machida sees coming a mile off.
Thompson connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A head kick misses from Thompson.
Thompson throws a nice head kick!
Thompson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Whack! Thompson lands a heavy head kick that drops Machida. The ref tackles Thompson to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Machida was done.
